Farmers Market Tuesdays!

Have you visited the Norwood Farmers Market 2013?

New Vendors! Two Farms! New Manager! Lots of fun and good stuff going on!

Tuesday's market was wonderful! I was there to scope it out, meet and greet, and select some items for dinner (a fun task at hand).

New this week: Ferrara's Greenhouse offering beautiful annuals,
herbs, tomato plants, and other great flowers and plants.

Active afternoon market day - despite the heat. It was great energy!

Wine is available from Westport Vineyards. Lovely!

Fair Trade Coffee and Tea along with baked goods from Amego, a
wonderful organization working with  those with autism.
Stop by and chat with them about this important organization.

Sheldonville Soaps -
Handmade Soap: Natural, Vegan, Awesome!
This sign is simply Awesome!!

As I left the market it was more crowded than when I arrived!

At home making dinner. Yummy carrots and sourdough bread!

Sweet potato gnocci and broccoli - delicious!

Many reasons to come downtown. The Farmers Market is surely one of them!
See you there!

A new Farmers Market Manager for 2013

Spring must be coming because there's talk of the FARMERS MARKET again! Last year marked the first on the Common and it was a great market. Thank you to everyone who supported your market.

This year the Farmers Market Advisory Board has hired a new manager, Laurie Shea. Laurie is a Norwood native and has myriad experience in projects, fundraising, and all things local. Friends of Norwood Center is looking forward to working with Laurie at this year's market.

A meeting at the Common Cafe with Jean Taylor of the Farmers Market Advisory Board,
Laurie Shea, the new Farmers Market Manager, and me from Friends of Norwood Center. We're figuring out how to make sure this year's market is a great success!

Ideas were flying across the table! Knife sharpening (!) and haircuts and interviews and petting zoo and music and all sorts of good things.

If you have an idea you'd like to contribute to the Farmers Market, please email laurie@norwoodfarmersmarket.com.

Personally I'm really looking forward to Tuesday, June 18th at noon when the market opens this year. Sunshine and produce will make me so very happy!

Norwood Farmers Market photos

Last Tuesday's Farmers Market was busy!

If you weren't there, worry not. You'll have many more Tuesdays to attend before the market closes for the year on October 30th.

The Market has great entertainment options scheduled. The 4H club was there last week, too...

As was Tom Cummings for his show "Inside Norwood" which was taped on the Common.
Some members of the Farmers Market Advisory Board participated.

Later Tom Cummings had a conversation with Norwood Chief of Police, William Brooks.

Friends of Norwood Center was featured as well.
Hope you'll catch the show on Norwood Public Access.

Tom Cummings and his camera man, Ryan, were a great addition to the Market atmosphere.
Hope you'll come by next Tuesday anytime from 12-6pm.

Farmers Market Merchants!

Much of the reasoning behind the Farmes Market moving to the Common in Norwood Center had to do with bringing more people downtown and showcasing what Norwood's center has to offer. The soon-to-open Norwood Theatre, restaurants, salons, shops, and more are all within sight-line of market goers.

The Farmers Market Advisory Board has donated a table on a rotating basis to a business in Norwood. The FNC Downtown Manager and the Farmers Market Manager have been recruiting businesses to use the space and the response has been great.

Past Market participants include Yelena's Flowers and Norwood Light. Future participants include Custom Art Framing, Babel's Paint and Decorating, Twice is Nice Consignment, and Massage Therapy Norwood.

If your business is interested in this opportunity, please email norwoodcenter@gmail.com or call FNC at 781-269-9677.

Thanks and see you Downtown and at the market!

Market day and more

Farmers Market day!

Be sure to come downtown to enjoy what the Farmers Market has to offer. This week you'll find a new vendor selling wine. Can't wait to see what they have to offer.

Also from 2-3pm there will be a children's story time at the Market with an activity following the story. This activity is facilitated by the Morrill Memorial Library.

Can't wait to see you downtown today! Market hours on the common: 12-6pm.

And for Independence Day, are you running in the Firecracker 5K?  All preregistered Norwood Firecracker 5K runners can pick up their race packets from 3-6 p.m. today at Charles River Running. The race starts at 5 p.m. on July 4.

Enjoy your holiday, stay safe, and shop local!
Thanks, Friends of Norwood Center

The more I learn of our Norwood Farmers Market the more excited I am for June.
Oh, is it silly to dream of a fresh tomato when it's only the end of February?

Thinking of summer!~

Farmers Market 2012 update

Beginning the first Tuesday in June 19, 2012 and continuing through October 30 the Farmers Market will return to Norwood Center!

This year, too, the Norwood Farmers Market will be in Downtown Norwood on the Town Common! A new location taking advantage of Norwood's beautiful downtown resources.

This year's market will offer new farmers and new choices!
Starting each Tuesday market day at Noon and ending at 6pm, rain or shine.

Something for all of us to look forward to since we're only in mid-January. Soon enough it'll be time to work in the gardens again.
